Cyclohexane is a colorless, highly flammable liquid that occurs naturally in petroleum at a concentration of 0.5-1.0%. Cyclohexane is mainly used in the industrial production of nylon precursors - adipic acid and caprolactam, and is also commonly used as a solvent, paint remover, and raw material in the manufacture of other chemicals. Cyclohexane is produced mainly by hydrogenation of benzene.
